Add all Country List as a Custom Taxonomy

I found this country array online and cannot vouch for it’s accuracy. You can add this to your functions.php file in your current theme. Reload WordPress and it should add them. Once they are added, delete this code. I did put a check in there to make sure they aren’t added twice.

I’ve tried some tutorials and some guides found by Google but none which has yet to work. Add bellows php code on yor function.php file for register custom taxonomy like ‘country’.

Also need to display drop-down menu on sidebar of WordPress admin dashboard. So you have to add bellows code for this on your function.php file. This suppose you have normal post type “post” and a custom taxonomy “country”.

How to Create a WordPress Child Theme

Are you looking to create a child theme in WordPress? WordPress child theme allows you change the functionality of the theme without having to edit the original/parent theme template files. Firsty, create a new folder in your themes directory. You can do so using the cPanel or via FTP. The themes directory is the wp-content/themes. So let’s go through the above steps in detail. For this example, I will be creating a child theme for the Twenty Fifteen default theme.

To create a child theme, We create a style.css file in our child theme folder as shown below:

Create a file named functions.php in the child theme folder, edit it, and paste the following:

Uploading and activating a child theme is no different than a normal theme, simply upload it via the Appearances > Themes page in your WordPress Dashboard and activate it. Before you upload it, you must first ZIP it.

Hopefully now you are able to create a child theme and make the customization that you like. Want to say something? Add it in the comments and I will get back to you. Enjoy!

How to Add News Feed WordPress Admin Dashboard

This article is for easy and quick tip on how to add news feed to the WordPress Dashboard. RSS feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. I you ever feel like you want to change the source of the news items on the WordPress dashboard here is how to do it. WordPress developers can add this feature in their theme as a theme support option. I have also developed a plugin for this task. You can download this plugin from WordPress plugin directory.

So let’s start to adding custom news feed your WordPress theme admin dashboard. Adding this snippet to the functions.php of your WordPress theme will let you replace the existing RSS feed widget with another RSS feed. This function adds your custom feed url to the admin dashboard. Customize as required for display your custom news feed WordPress dashboard.

Just paste this on your theme functions.php file and replace “YOUR_FEED_NAME” by your news feed name, “” by your feed URL, “YOUR_FEED_TITLE” by your feed title, input display item no, 0 or 1 for show date & author. That’s all for adding custom news feed you your WordPress theme admin dashboard.

Custom Excerpt and Content Limit WordPress

What I want to know is how you can have multiple of these each returning different numerical values so I can get short excerpts for sidebar loops, longer excerpts for featured loops, and the longest excerpt for the main article. As it stands, the max number of words for the excerpt is 55. There is a new function with WP 2.9 to increase this number.

Well, I recently stumbled across a really great function created that allows you to set custom excerpt lengths for multiple instances throughout your theme. I always have the same problem with post excerpt, post content. There’re various hooks and functions for this purpose. But sometimes they don’t do exactly what I want. I just found a solution to limiting the number of words in the excerpt without plugins. Add the following code to your functions.php file.

Now, instead of using the_content() or the_excerpt in your loop, use excerpt($limit) or content($limit).

If you want to limit your excerpt to 25 words the code would look like this:

Another way to display limited excerpt by character. Here is the functions.php file code.

After this you need to add where you want to display your customized character by character.

Five Useful Plugins for WordPress Blogs

There are many WordPress plug-ins that are available to help optimize your search engine ranking. This is also known as SEO. Before using one of these plugins, you should find out whether or not it is reliable; some of the top rated and most reliable SEO Plug-ins will be listed in the top five WordPress Plugins list below.

1. Permalink Finder is the top rated SEO plug-in for WordPress. This handy tool allows you to bypass the 404 error that occurs when a page cannot be found. It will try to locate anything similar by searching through the database. It will then give the visitor the best match. This gives users what they are looking for while search engine spiders will see the 301 redirect and update their database. This will eventually get users to the right page they are looking for.

2. SEO Slugs is a plug-in that removes commonly used words from post slugs. This, in turn, helps to improve SEO. For example; “what is the best way to lose weight” would come across as “best way lose weight”.

3. SEO Smart Links automatically link phrases and keywords in your content that relate to other posts, pages, tags or categories on your blog. It also allows you to set your own keywords and matching URLS. In the long run, it will save you time and provides you with a lot of information quickly.

4. SEO Friendly Images will automatically update all of your images with the proper ALT and TITLE components. This also helps for search engine optimization. If your images don’t have these components already, this plug-in will add them when you set your options. This will also make the post W3C/xHTML valid.

5. Google XML Sitemap makes building a site map for your site simple. It updates automatically and will help search engines, like Google, search through your blog faster to find the information needed.

If you don’t have all of these SEO plugins for your WordPress site, you should get them to help get your rankings higher in the search engines. Even though some may cost money, getting more traffic to your site through search engine optimized content will help you make more money because you will have more visitors every day. When the search engines can’t find your content; it’s impossible for anyone else to see it, unless they find it by mistake.

A Few Tips to Optimize Your WordPress Blog

1. Thinking and optimize its theme to the source

When conducting a site, one is often tempted to do as much as possible. It is thus not uncommon to succumb to the temptation to embellish their pages with flash animations, video or images. These elements should be used sparingly since they consume bandwidth and can therefore significantly slow the display of your pages. So of course, you can absolutely use these technologies, but this does not mean that you must accumulate. Adding AJAX scripts for fun to add, this does not mean anything.

Similarly, it is important to always be wary of external scripts, whether advertising or widgets community. Again, the blogger is very often tried to do too much, go through several different boards, add widgets to the sidebar to make it more alive. And again, it should be very careful. Optimize its pages, the server is one thing, but you can not intervene in these external scripts. Therefore, you are dependent.

However, this does not mean you should outlaw these different technologies. Weedle on, for example, the gallery of photographs generated from FlickRSS which is in my sidebar is one of the things that slows as the display of my pages. If I took it off, I probably would win 1 or 2 seconds to shipment. However, insofar as I believe this feature can be beneficial, I preferred to leave it. The brand is making his choice with the greatest care.

To calculate the “weight” of your pages, there are two tools that every webmaster should know: Firebug and YSlow. Together, they allow you to correct your pages and get a few precious seconds. Regarding the images that make up your theme, do not hesitate to optimize the setting up of CSS Sprites.

With WordPress, we should also note that what is good for scripting, flash and other plugins is also true that you are using. Your goal should always be to use as little as possible and, again, it should make its choice with the greatest care.

2. Tips to optimize WordPress

Just do a simple Google search to find thousands of results on optimizing WordPress. My goal is not to develop yet another list of tips on the subject, I’ll just tell you what I know and what I did on Weedle. To give you an idea of what value these different tricks, you should know that my home page initially put 16 seconds to load. Now I’m averaging 3 or 4 seconds. A significant gain.

2.1. Optimize its database:

It is often forgotten but it is necessary to optimize its database regularly so that it remains as responsive as ever. To do this, you have several options. Alternatively, you can skip through PHPMyAdmin or install a dedicated plugin for WordPress. Again, there are a number but in my case, I opted for WP DB Manager. In addition to fit perfectly to the administration interface, it presents as main advantage that you can schedule tasks to run automatically.

Regarding the frequency optimization, you’re free to do as you wish but for a blog updated regularly, weekly cleaning seems to be the best option. Anyway, that’s how I set.

2.2. Install a caching system for its database:

From my point of view, the database is always the weak point of a site and this is especially true with WordPress. Especially if you are hosted on a shared server. That is why it is necessary to ensure the least possible and seek is also why it is better to install a caching system for its database.

Again, there are many dedicated plugins for WordPress. The one I use is DB cache. Configurable with one click, it is both very accessible and simple to function. Among other things, you’ll be able to set the cache duration (default is 5 minutes per application) or display statistics directly into your theme.

2.3. “Minifier” its CSS and JavaScript:

Another weak point of websites that are HTTP requests. Each image, each script, each CSS file causes a query when the page loads. And the more one query, the page takes more time to load. By reducing the number of HTTP requests, you will gain a few precious extra seconds. To do this, many methods exist. On this point, I probably still work to do but for the moment, I contented myself to compress my CSS and my Javascript.

To do so, some optimize their server directly, others go through them. Htaccess file, but in my case, I opted for a dedicated plugin WP minify. This adds a WordPress engine minify, all within a few clicks. No need to configure your server, the procedure is completely automated (but some options are configurable via the admin interface).

Attention all de same as if you use a personal theme, WP minify is likely to crash. If you encounter an error, I invite you to get the “header” in the default theme and paste it into your own theme (adapting it if necessary).

2.4. Install a “super” Cache:

If we talk about WordPress and hides in the same conversation, we immediately think of the Super Cache plugin. Indeed, on the subject, it remains the most famous and for good reason … because it goes too far by creating, for each page, an HTML file. When a user comes to your site is the famous HTML file to be called. So, only Apache will be used to display your pages, your database intervening only when updating your content (publishing a new ticket and / or a new comment).

The only downside to that Super Cache is working properly, we need your host supports URL rewriting via. Htaccess file. At this point, I suggest you read all the information on the configuration page of the plugin. You will indeed save your file. Htaccess updated so that the cache is working properly.

WordPress SEO – Where to Start?

It only takes a simple enough process to be followed to execute WordPress SEO. Many people often ask if popular search engines such as Google tend to favor WordPress sites. To tell the truth, there really is no substance in this claim since the first and foremost objective of every search engine is to present the most relevant search result to the searcher. The platform that a site uses does not play any role whatsoever in determining the search engine raking of that site.

Furthermore, many people entertain the conception that a WordPress site is much more adaptable to SEO techniques than other sites. Now, there is some weight in this idea since WordPress sites allow users to enable and disable different WordPress SEO plugins to enhance the SEO experience without the user needing to have any complex knowledge of SEO. While on the one hand, these plugins speed up the process of adding or editing content on a WordPress site, on the other, they also help you tinker with the site wide policies.

A sharp edge that WordPress sites have to offer is that because they are so easy to update, especially if you prefer using ‘WordPress SEO plugins’, these sites remain quite active and this is one thing search engines do take into account. On the other hand, many static sites are neglected by search engines simply because they are not as active.

A point of contention is how WordPress sites should be configured with respect to implementing search engine optimization. Most users often choose a WordPress theme to make their site look more attractive, where instead they should be picking a theme that suits WordPress SEO. Checking out some of the premium themes is certainly worth it. And to make sure that the title of the blog appears in the URL instead of a number, the Permalinks should be set to ‘postname’.

The ‘All in One SEO Pack’ WordPress plugin is the most popular and is highly recommended for all WordPress users. Apart from entering the title, description and keywords, you do need to look after any other element of your homepage and just stick with the default settings. Usually these elements are essential for attracting popular search engines. On top of serving a number of vital functions, this plugin also makes sure that no duplicate content is indexed. Once you get familiarized with how this plugin works, you can always modify its settings according to your needs.

Create Custom Post Types in WordPress

Custom Post Types and taxonomies are two powerful features of WordPress. When WordPress 2.9 was introduced it offered users the ability to add custom post types to their sites for the first time. WordPress 3.0 allows users to not only add custom post types but to also tie into the admin area of the WordPress backend all with fewer lines of code. By default WordPress comes with post and pages as the main content types. However you can create as many custom content types as you like, and these custom content types are referred to as Custom Post Types & also you can generate Custom Post Types.

Register post type is the default post type register function.

Step 2
Register Post Type
Here’s the first bit of code we need to add to functions.php, which I’ll review below. There are two type custom post register system:

2. Elaborate:

Just replace your text-domain and post type. You can generate this code from Post Type Generator website. Anyone who’s worked with WordPress before will recognize the structure here. We’re adding an action when the WP Admin initializes to call the function function custom_product_type(). In that function we create two arrays, $labels and $args, and then use register_post_type to pull it all together.

Now, we need call the custom post by a template file. We we’ll create two files by named single-product.php & archive-product.php. Given bellow the code loop for those file.
